So, Jimi and Johann Strauss have something in common…they both composed a waltz!

Ya I can agree that this was the begining of metal. A friend pointed out to how similar some of his riffs sound to Dimebags…nonetheless great music.

  • 10 DetziPurpleHaze // Jan 25, 2009 at 1:59 am

It is in 3/4. A waltz.

  • 11 ihatelifejosemartine // Jan 28, 2009 at 12:11 am

One could make the argument that this is metal… Hendrix was the best at what he did, no question.

  • 12 ManlySlut // Jan 29, 2009 at 8:51 am

It is a waltz. 3/4 and 6/8 are waltzes. But 6/8 is like a waltz, but the 3 beats are in pairs, making it 6 beats, and the long notes are for 6 beats too. 6/8.

  • 13 BlueShirt7 // Jan 30, 2009 at 11:43 am

    you can count it.

1,2 3 and the three is accentuated.

    it is like a waltz.

  • 14 ManlySlut // Feb 1, 2009 at 4:32 am

You mean the long notes? If so, yeah. They sound for 6 beats not 3.

  • 15 BlueShirt7 // Feb 2, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Imagine to hold Drum Throne behind Jimi!! one really has to match up with his sear energy & creativity and Mitch Mitchell gotta be the perfect One..Just listen to the “FIRE” one of the best Drum Intro in the History of Rock Music.

  • 23 TruthAxe // Feb 16, 2009 at 7:51 pm

John Jr Robinson could play this easily enough. google on “John Jr Robinson”

always liked this song alot. But never realized how excellent the drumming is. It would be hard to match today id say.
