I’m sorry guys, but I’m going to disable comments. I try to be open minded to discussion, but I’m sick of the uninformed rubbish that this video has become a forum for.

Lmao! That is probably the most out-there comment I’ve gotten on these videos.
I’m waiting for someone to tell me that if you paint your body with fish and spin around seven times yelling “The power of Christ compels you!” then you will never feel depressed again.

Ahyaok, maybe people get depressed when they base their entire life, on the premise that evolution even exists. That is, we came from preexisting life forms. There’s no reason to live if you believe that. I’m sick of people presupposing that, and basing their whole belief system on a lie. It is so scientifically improbable, that you would be justified in calling it impossible. Now, everyone, I’m sorry to bring up something like this but come on… Its everywhere and its annoying.

Why do people get anxiety over speaking to a large group? Why do we feel good about ourselves when we are accepted by others? Its a crock of ****! I feel happy a lot of the time…So! Is that a disease too? Yeah, we cant always control our moods. Did it occur to you that you’re not always going to feel good? Its not a disease when you feel bad. Its your brain doing what its supposed to do; it’s our evolving primitive non-logical brains that gives us feelings we dont always have control over. lol

You dont even know what depression is. Can you define it? No? Because its just a mind ****.You show me someone with an ego and has a self image to live up to, and I’ll show you someone who gets depressed. Most people are simple little creatures. You beleive what you’re told to beleive without question. You actually beleive that thats YOUR opinion? Human beings arent much better or smarter than we were as monkeys. We dont know anything! You are a monkey and dont even know it!

AhYaOk, explain the following:
1) Why do some people with profound depression often have hallucinations?
2) Why does “clinical depression” result in severe physical symptoms (like weight loss, inability to sleep), even after stresses in the life are removed?
3) Why do animals, that have much simpler “egos” than people, develop “clinical depression” when they are put through severe stress?
4) Why does PTSD have many features similar to depression when PTSD has little to do with personality?

The problem with the word “depression” is that it means so many things. Some people think it is a personality trait, but the medical definition of “major depressive disorder” is something entirely different.

Nice video. I would add that we need to remember that there are different types and levels of depression. Profound clinical depression is a disease and needs to be eradicated from the face of the earth. It’s a cruel disease that nobody deserves to face and includes physical symptoms, emotional symptoms etc. Some forms of what we call “depression” can be useful. At times, negative moods can help us grow and mature.

I think you are mistaken, AhYaOk. Sometimes depression results from the brain acting goofy. For instance, some people with severe clinical depression get symptoms that feel like having a bad alcohol hangover. These symptoms can last for months. Silly things can trigger these episodes. For instance, poor sleep habits can trigger these weird episodes. Don’t confuse personality disorders with depression. Not everyone with depression has emotional issues. There are many types of depression!

Depression destroy lives, destroy self confidence and lead to deep hell..but you know what, you got a good point of view, why would a depressed person feel sad because he knows hes always depressed and different , or cause people give him that weird look!! good angle to look from.

Maybe it was a slip, but I think depression is a very bad thing. It clouds reality, and makes the smallest things seem trivial. But you do bring up a good existential point.

your face look familiar to me.

I always fell depressed, but i never act it. If you show others your depression your just asking them to help you or feel sorry for you. I hide it because I don’t want any help.
Oh also when people tell you to smile. There basically saying stop your bitching. No one cares your depressed so stop bring us down with your expression were all sad.

Well when I was in Psychiatric care I was trying to express the same words as you just put down. I really can’t articulate things rationally. I just can’t seem tho concentrate hard enough to. But they just told me to move on because that is the only way I’ll get by. Good advice ay?

Depression has been part of my life but I never though it was necessary to “seek help” so I could put on a pathetic, fake smile.
You imply that depression is just a form of sincerity but then claim that it needs to be “dealt with” and “cured”. Your confusion bores me.

Oh, you are beautiful, girl!

A feeling is not something we have great power over. It’s the things that surround us that determine how we feel. Sure you can do things to help, but it’s not like you can just say, ok I choose to be sad now lol

You believe what ever the commercials tell you to believe. I’m only saying what is based on Freud’s and many other doctors research. There is more than one school of thought on this. Its nothing new. It is a false assumption to say that depression is a chemical imbalance. It simply is not. Tom Cruise? You mean the actor? LOL
20 colormeviolet // Sep 8, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Right… we should all ignore what those who hold Ph D’s in psychology say, and we’re obliged to listen to an anonymous Youtube post.
You and Tom Cruise would get along well.

AhYaOk, your comment should be named “the most stupid Youtube`s comment ever”. You obviously don`t know what you are talking about, trust me. Depression IS extremely hard to deal with, nobody decides to be depressed.
22 AhYaOk // Sep 11, 2008 at 10:20 am
Depression is self imposed. it has to do w/ the ego; not biology.
That depression is a chemical imbalance is the biggest lie in the world. There is a self image that one has to live up to. Depression is the price you pay to keep your false image intact.
